February's newsletter

Another packed newsletter this month. There are articles on the BBC TV programme Jazz 625, which has won the Best Music Programme at the Broadcast Awards 2020, and the Documenting Jazz conference held at Birmingham City University.

We also highlight the exhibition in Croydon later this year of photographs by Brian O`Connor.  The exhibition is entitled, Images of Jazz - the first 50 years.

We remember the Granada venue in Walthamstow, East London, that played host to greats such as Count Basie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, John Coltrane and many others.

Don't forget the fundraising concert to be given by Simon Spillett and his quartet later this month as a celebration of the great British saxophonist Tubby Hayes.  Tickets to the concert in Loughton are in short supply, so book yours online now.

We are also promoting our other fundraising concerts arranged for later this year. This includes Darius Brubeck celebrating his father's legacy and a quartet, which includes Martin Speake and Simon Purcell, celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the birth of Charlie Parker.

We have also included a summary of last year's annual general meeting, highlights of which included our collaboration with Birmingham City University.
