  • Description
  • Hawkins left Geneva on 20th April, went to Paris to do a concert. He left immediately to go to Amsterdam to do a broadcast and make recordings for Decca. The following day he returned to Paris to record for HMV after which he returned to Amsterdam for a 'special night and more records'. He's now having his first days 'at ease' in months. He's only been out of Switzerland for three weeks and he's been asked to return - but he doesn't want to go back for a few more days yet. He thinks Switzerland is the 'greatest place in the world after London with you (Renee).' Benny Carter was in Paris at the same time as Hawkins and helped with the recordings.,,
