  • The materials relating to Ian Carr's performing career includes news clippings files, performance contracts, recording royalties assignments, correspondence and expense claim forms and photographs. Materials relating to his writing career include research materials, drafts and transcripts for his biography of Miles Davis, research materials for both his biography of Keith Jarrett and the 'Jazz: The Rough Guide'.,,
    There are also personal diaries for selected periods between 1951-2004 and other Carr literary writings, including lyrics and poetry. The collection also includes papers relating to 'Campaign for Jazz on TV'(1990s), National Arts and Media Strategy discussion on music(1990s), Jazz Cooperative Funding Application (1980s), Shakespeares Globe and Sam Wannamaker (1980s-1990s) relating to the commemoration of Shakespeare and building the Globe. There is also a letter from Dave Brubeck declining Carr's offer to write his biography.
