  • Item 1 is a personal letter. Item 2 is a letter from the Hot and Sweet Club of Belgium to Renee telling her that Benny Carter has asked for her to be informed that the latest recordings made by the band which included (Coleman) Hawkins and was supervised by Leonard Feather would be broadcast next wednesday at seven thirty on a wave length of 269 metres. It also mentions that Renee's address and telephone number have been given to Mr. Ezio Levi of Italy from whom Renee should have heard. It also sends 'Swing greetings' from Benny Carter, Inez Failbrook (of the Scottish Club) and Coleman Hawkins.,,

    Format notes: The envelope is plain and is addressed to Sent to 26 Methuen Park, London N10. It contains two items. Item 1 is a handwritten letter from Coleman Hawkins - single sheet, double sided to form two pages. Headed Vijzelstraat, 68, Amsterdam, Holland. Dated 6st [sic] Sept. 1937 and signed Coleman. Item 2 is a typwritten letter from 'Andre' - single sheet, single sided. Headed 'SWEET AND HOT CLUB DE BELGIQUE. 12 RUE DE BRUXELLES. Dated '4.9.1o37' [sic].
