Very personal letter. Hawkins is annoyed by the behaviour of someone called 'Edgar' (? Edgar Jackson) and relies on Renee to 'straighten him right out'. He leaves for the Scala Cinema in the Hague, Holland on Friday morning for twelve days and then to return to Paris. He's heard Louis' new recordings of 'Tiger Rag', 'St Louis Blues', and 'Sunny Side of the Street' but he doesn't like them as much as the old ones and he thinks the band is 'sadder' than ever.,,
Subject notes (people): 'Edgar' (Edgar Jackson ?); Mr. Crossman'; Mr. Stone (Lew Stone ?); 'Anthony'; Louis (Armstrong ?). Subject notes (places): The Scala Cinema, The Hague, Holland. Subject notes (recordings & songs): Louis Armstrong - 'Tiger Rag', 'St Louis Blues', 'Sunny Side of the Street'.,
,
Format notes: Both envelope and paper from 'Hotel Bohy Lafayette, Square Montholon, Paris, 9'. Two sheets, folded and double sided to form eight numbered pages. Dated '3, Janvier 1935'.
