  • Hawkins is doing 'nothing but enjoying life'. The summer is lovely - if Renee came over they could stay in Denmark or go over to Sweden.He thinks it 'ridiculous that J. H. has spread so many untruths about me'. He thinks Bennie [sic] Carter is in France as 'I received a letter from there stating he had left N.Y.with a piano player to join Willie Lewis' Orchestra'. Hawkins thinks Renee's idea of 'Bennie & I fighting it out on stage' is a great idea, especially for this 'commercial public'.,,
