  • hawkins had received Renee's letter from Budapest. He's still enjoying the mountain air. Renee's letter had asked if the 'girl' (probably see letter of 19351216PM) spoke 'spadish'. Hawkins says she's learning 'marvellously' and he's teaching her to sing. The girl's name is 'Baby' and Hawkins made a private recording of 'I Can't give you Anything But Love, Baby' for friends and 'Baby' thinks it's for her.
