Very personal letter. Hawkins might have been 'high' when he wrote to Renee 'last week' - 'one can't avoid getting that way sometime or other whilst travellingthe provinces'. He's still reading detective novels avidly. He may go the movies 'this afternoon' as there's a picture on with his 'favourite star - "Ruth Chatterton"'. He's trying to continue his music writing but 't's terribly difficult 'having to make your own atmosphere for inspiration'.,,
