  • Personal letter. Hawkins asks how Renee likes Fletcher henderson's 1934 version of Shanghai Shuffle - he alludes to Henderson's 1924 version with Louis Armstrong as 'lovely'. He says Henry Red Allen is with the Blue Rhythm Band at the Cotton Club. Hawkins doesn't 'know for sure' about (John ?) Kirby but he'd heard that Duke (Ellington ?) wanted him.,,
