  • Description
  • Armstrong and Alpha are having a 'grand and glorious time' since they returned home to 'good ol' Chicago'. Everyone seems glad to see tham. Alpha is well and happy and is 'the sweetest thing in my young life'. They bought a dog 'Peter Armstrong'. Louis has just about lined up a good band and will soon 'start the ball a rollin again'. Renee and Sopihie shouldn't believe all the foollishness they read in the Melody Maker - Louis has all the work he can do and his popularity 'is greater now all over the world than it's ever been before.' In fact he's been offered so much work he's having to say 'nay, nay - all work-n-no play is not so hot'. The Melody Maker is carrying so much stuff because 'Canetti' - for whom Louis worked in Paris - is a writer for them and he and Louis didn't get on because Canetti was a smart alec and so this is Canetti's way of getting revenge. Canetti has written all the 'lousy things' he can and now he's getting people from Paris to write ans ask Louis to come back to him. Canetti is willing to take back everything he's written and admit it was because he was 'sore' at Louis. Louis has written and told him to forget it - because Louis has. Louis is learning to dance with a 14 year old teacher - he may add dancing to his act. He's had quite a few nice offers to make new movies. he and Alpha are still using the movie camera - they may becaome strong competitionfor M.G.M, Warner Bros., Fox, etc. Louis has been down to the 'Three Deuces' in the Chicago Loop to hear Zutty Singleton's band - they really swing. Zutty wants to come back to Louis' band and it would be a 'Joy to be able to be in the same band with my best pal (Zooty [sic]) again.' Louis has just finished listening to the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra broadcasting from the Trianon Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. 'It was most enjoyable'. Bob Crosby is the vocalist and Louis enjoyed him - 'he is the last word just like Brother Bing'.,,
