The Tivoli concert was one of the biggest successes he's ever had and completely sold out. It was broadcast and when he went to a party after the concert it had been recorded on the host's American Victor Gramophone and he was able to listen to the recorded broadcast - applause and all. The 'directors' want him to do another concert but he can't get a permit - 'they don't want you to take the money out of the country'. It's a pity because 'I like the countryhere and the public solid can see me and that includes every paper reporter in town - the write ups they give me are simply grand'. He'll write to 'Elma' (Warren?) to see if she can get Hawkins a permit for England. He wants to know if Renee has 'heard of the new Harlem Dance called 'I Truck on Down'' - he's anxious to see someone do it. He's not heard the story of Benny Carter 'having to return to his wife with the kid.',,
