  • Description
  • Hawkins was met by between 5 and 10 thousand fans at the station and carried to the taxi from the coach. It was the most cordial welcome he's ever had. He has a marvellous salon of rooms at the Palace Hotel. He did his first perfomance in Copenhagen to an enthusistic Danish audience 'today'. Next concert he'll play a few 'soft slow sweet' numbers for the 'more older and settled crowd' and 'get off unmecifully for the younger set'. He wrote the letter from Hamburg (9 March 1935) in the station on the way to Copenhagen. Every country he goes to 'over here' he likes better and better. He's crazy about Copenhagen and not just for the girls - although he thinks they're beautiful. Everyone is so friendly and the clubs are open practically all night - then everyone moves on to the morning bars after the other places close - really reminds him of home.,,
Format notes: Stationery - both paper and envelope - marked Palace Hotel, Copenhagen - which is the address for the reply. One sheet, folded into four single side, numbered pages.
