Hawkins asks if Renee heard much 'Gypsy' music in Budapest - he's heard quite a lot of it 'here and in other places' and he's 'crazy about the way they slur up and down the violin playing those beautiful Hungarian melodies'. He saw 'Gale' at 'Silhporte' [sic] and he had a proposition for Hawkins - but it was for the States and Hawkins isn't ready to return yet. Hawkins is sorry Elma (Warren) couldn't get things fixed up for him in England. He'll come to England anyway as soon as he can as he's in love with Renee and wants to see her. he's not fed up with the continent in fact he believes he could 'stay on forever if only you (Renee) were not in England'. He then asks what Renee meant when she asked what hawkins would do if she was thinking of getting engaged. He says 'I guess I'd kill myself, especially after living all this time in such hopes.' He must stop writing because he's going off to the Corso Bar with some friends for a Gala Night.,,
