Newsletter No 2 for 2021
Posted on 11th Mar 2021 by John Rosie
Welcome to our second e-newsletter of 2021 as we move out of winter and into spring. Sign up to automatically receive our monthly emails with news about the Archive.
In this latest post we have more second-hand books available to buy in a half-price spring sale, which will be of interest to all jazz researchers and aficionados.
We also have the exciting news of the provisional booking of Darius Brubeck and his quartet - A must see for all jazz enthusiasts. You can find the details in our newsletter, so save the date in your diary and keep checking on our News & Events page for confirmation of the date and how to purchase tickets.
Since our last newsletter we have been saddened by the death of a number of jazz greats, not least the influential bandleader and trombonist Chris Barber (shown above in a photograph by Brian O'Connor). Read Mike Rose's recollection of hearing Chris Barber with his school jazz club and hear about the development of his band and how it influenced popular music in the 1950s and 60s.
For anyone interested in becoming a Trustee for the National Jazz Archive, applications will be accepted up to March 31, 2021. You can find details via the e-newsletter.
