Newsletter No. 3 for 2022
Posted on 6th Apr 2022 by Thomas Kuglin
Welcome to our third newsletter for 2022. It contains a reminder that a few tickets are still available for our next fundraising concert, with the wonderful Elaine Delmar and Her Friends featuring the legendary jazz guitarist Jim Mullen, on Saturday 9 April 2022. You can book tickets for the concert, but they are subject to availability.
We also feature news of our November concert which is a tribute to the great American songwriter Hoagy Carmichael presented by the Chris Ingham Quartet. With Chris will be Paul Higgs on trumpet, Geoff Gascoyne on bass and George Double on drums.
Chris Ingham’s Hoagy! 5 November – tickets on sale now
This fundraising concert for the National Jazz Archive will be in Loughton, Essex on Saturday 5 November. Tickets cost £20 and will be on sale at the Elaine Delmar concert on 9 April. They are also available on WeGotTickets with a small booking fee.
‘Women in Jazz’ – from Loughton to LA
The National Jazz Archive is delighted to be contributing to a foyer exhibition at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Reprints of panels originally used at our Women in Jazz Exhibition at the Barbican in London in 2018 will be part of the display to complement a concert featuring Maria Schneider and Regina Carter on 25 March. The event is being held as part of Women's History Month.
The exhibition will also feature facsimiles of two Billie Holiday letters ‘to a fan in England’, two of the jewels in our amazing collections.
This collaboration is a gratifying illustration of the growing global reach of the Archive, not least through our highly successful social media platforms.
