Fiona Ross was named among the 100 Alternative Power Music List for 2020, and is a multi-award winning jazz artist, composer and producer. She is also the editor-in-chief, journalist and founder of the award winning Women in Jazz Media organisation. Fiona was Head of British Academy of New Music, London, for nearly nine years, where she was responsible for the training of Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora and Jess Glynne amongst many others. She is a member of the Jazz Journalists Association, The British Association of Journalists, and womeninjournalism.co.uk As founder of the ground breaking organisation, Women in Jazz Media, Fiona has developed many exciting initiatives. This includes: a mentoring scheme for new female writers; a free music promotional package for female artists; a podcast series; and an acclaimed special edition International Women's Day magazine, which provides a platform for women working in Jazz across the world. Through Women in Jazz Media, Fiona collaborates with many official partners including the Jazz Times, Jazzwise, Jazz in Europe, Black Music Matters and the organisation's work with these partners has led to an increase in the gender and diversity balance in several publications.
