Jools Holland OBE DL is an acclaimed pianist, bandleader, composer, and broadcaster. He began his career playing boogie-woogie in London pubs before co-founding the multi-platinum pop-rock band Squeeze in 1974. He later shifted his focus to a lifelong passion for jazz, blues, and big band music. In 1987, he formed the 18-piece Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. The ensemble has sold millions of records and performed alongside icons like Eric Clapton, BB King, and Amy Winehouse. Jools is also one of the UK’s most influential music broadcasters. Since 1992, he has hosted BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland, alongside his iconic annual Hootenanny special, using his platform to champion new jazz talent. His massive contributions to music were recognized with an OBE in 2003, alongside a BAFTA Craft Award and the Jazz FM Impact Award. |
